Karen Blumenthal was a beloved Dallas author of many nonfiction books for young adults. She passed away in 2020 but has a new picture book out with Jen McCartney about a fascinating figure in US history, Mary Katharine Goddard, whose name is printed on the Declaration of Independence. The book’s focus on the time in US history when when printing the actual news could get a person hung for treason feels especially timely.
