Healing and Helping: Picture Books
Two of my daughters are so different in the number of injuries each of them had in young childhood. One cried for hours and required a cold pack the first time she fell and slightly scraped her knee at age two. She was the one who waited to walk until she seemed to know that she could walk. The same with riding a bike.
The other daughter crashed into doorways, stubbed toes, smashed fingers, and bloodied her knees frequently from 18 months on. Even to age ten, she regularly bumped her elbows, hands, and feet on corners, cabinets, and doors.
No matter the injury style and frequency, both girls would have loved being read books about boo-boos and the like. Here are four books for young readers about hurts and healing.
